The Terrors of Teenage Acne
By gems4friends | April 15, 2010
The time you spend as a teenager is probably the best part of your life, for many people, anyway. What would be the worst thing being a teenager? If you ask them I am sure the response would be acne. They”ll likely rate it even above “not being in the “in” crowd” and other social issues.
The much feared curse of the teens, and some adults, acne reduces their self-confidence and making them more anxious about their appearance. This anxiety means tha acne treatment does not merely serve as a medication for the body, but for the ego.
Acne comes in several forms that we all know and, probably, hate: zits, blackheads, and pimples. The reasons behind the cause of acne are not 100% understood, but the most common ones are believed to be hormonal activity, bacteria, stress, and, in some cases, steroids.
Prescription acne medication is something that teens (and others) look to as a common resort, but they come with some important guidelines. First, it should be remembered that all medications should be used in their prescribed quantities, excactly the way your doctor tells you to use it. Using an excessive amount and may have bad consequences. Isotretinoin (used for several acne) is one such. Also, keep in mind that severe acne will take time to heal , regardless of the acne medication you are using.
Naturally you’ll find an array of products in the stores claiming to heal you in matter of days. Maybe. Some will work better on some people than others. Lotions and creams should be applied as per the directions so as not to break any pimples or cause problems. Whatever treatment youi use should be taken regularly for it to be of any use and should be followed as long as it is necessary. In short it is not only about what type of acne medication you use, but also about how well you use it.
As for the costs, well, prescription acne medication might be somewhat expensive, but your insurance may cover it. For anyone who regards appearance to be critical it would be an expense towards a worthy cause.
For something that’s not a prescription acne med you should consider looking at a holistic acne cure, as well.
