Health is one of those things most people normally start thinking about when it too late and then you will more than likely give anything to get it back.

Statistically you can live 23.5 years longer, simply by following these 5 steps - Exercise regularly 5.5 years, stop smoking 3 years, avoid diabetes 8 years, maintain a healthy body weight 2 years, avoid hypertension/high blood pressure 5 years.

If you know anything about health you will notice that the above list is all about us and our lifestyles, illness due to chance and genes makes up a very small percentage in comparison with illness due to blatant ignorance . With all the knowledge and natural cures available to us today it will mostly be your own fault if you suffer from so form of debilitating disease or other.

From the PsychSense blog - Here’s a good article on just what our stress costs us. Doctors and Shrinks have been telling us for a very long time that excessive stress is damaging to our health, and the Alternative Healers tell us the same thing.

Stress also comes with a lot of costs that aren’t obvious. If you break a leg you go to the emergency room and they put you back together. The costs, if you’re paying for it, are quite visible. But with stress… consider the money for the headache pills, relaxation therapies, etc.

Here’s a clip:

We all know that a stress-filled existence is responsible for nail biting and dark circles under the eyes. But we may not realize the heavy toll it can extract from our bank account. Chronic stress, the kind you experience when the demands of life exceed your ability to cope, increases your risk of developing ailments ranging from the common cold and gum disease to obesity and heart diseases. This, in turn, will cause you to pay more for medical treatments, insurance and dental work. If you need more incentive to do something about your stressful lifestyle, consider these potential costs:

But the Ego is essential to our sense of well being, confidence, self-esteem, etc. Here’s a killer aticle on the subject:

One consistent and popular theme concerning the Ego is it is looked upon as bad and something we have to constantly work to get rid of. I myself fell into constantly berating the ego and fighting against it. Doing this unknowingly created an on going and increasing problem for myself. The more I fought against the ego, the more confused I became, and less confident I felt. If you have experienced much of the same, let me explain what happen that changed all that for me.

A great blog that you should check out is Lions Led by Sheep. Steve has a sharp, interesting style of writing. You may not agree with everything he says, but I’ll bet you’ll read it.

Here’s one of his latest, on Cancer. One of the keywords that might go along with this article is Personal Responsibility.

Cancer? Well, it’s one of those good news/bad news deals, isn’t it?

The bad news is one in three of us is going to become intimately acquainted with cancer leading to a lifelong relationship.

The good news is not to worry if you don’t get on as that ‘lifelong’ friendship won’t actually last that long!

Isn’t there any way to avoid befriending such a disagreeable character?

Let’s see, you can eat healthily, avoid excess in… well, everything, you can exercise, make all manner of lifestyle changes, but there’s no guarantee. Especially as no amount of bran, jogging, or abstinence will ever change your genes.

Bottom line?

Even the most clean-living of us could get a tumour and die within just a few months.

Of course, should the worst happen, most of us will dash to our doctor expecting the miracle that is modern medicine to save us. But we all know there are no guarantees there, too, don’t we?

But why? The war on cancer has been raging for decades. Why does it still kill millions of us every year?

Here’s the rest: Does Cancer Have to be a Death Sentence?

From the Wellness Diary comes a post regarding Gestault Therapy. This is a friendlier approach to therapy than some other forms one might encounter.

Gestalt therapy is not a new type of therapy, but for some it may help more than traditional approaches in therapy. Going to a psychologist or psychiatrist can be frustrating for some people because they feel that they are simply just talking about their feelings without ever working anything out. Gestalt therapy is a more holistic approach to therapy where you take a different approach to understanding how you think and feel right now in the present moment rather than you did when you were younger. It is a much gentler way of approaching therapy, and one way that some people really can take too.

This post is from an interview of Gerdi Altman regarding her Energy Tuning therapy. A link to the whole article is at the bottom of this post.

—

On the natural path to physical and emotional wholeness, there are bound to be a few bumps and bruises along the way. With every treatment or remedy, there’s a time of waiting and learning to make adjustments to one’s behavior. Getting well without the use of conventional medicine also causes us to exercise our faith muscle in ways that might be foreign or uncomfortable.

Holistic practitioner Gerdi Altman understands this delicate process and has guided countless people to optimum health through a natural therapy called Energy Tuning. Altman, who lives and practices in Israel, said she takes great interest in the well-being of her clients, helping them tune in to positive, life-transforming energy.

She believes just about any physical or emotional issue can be corrected through Energy Tuning, a technique she developed in 2000. According to Altman, the technique has helped correct everything from migraine headaches to chronic fatigue to depression. It involves changing or rebalancing the energies within an individual’s energy system to bring them to the correct frequencies.

“Basically, I’m the cleaner and the alarm that tells people what’s going on inside their bodies,” said Altman, who holds a diploma in medical dowsing recognized by the Institute of Complementary Medicine in the United Kingdom and accredited by Thames Valley University.

“When I’m checking people, I loosen or get rid of the negative stuff and replace it with positive energy. It’s like taking an X-ray of your energy, but I think it’s a lot better because I can get a picture of everything that’s going on within a person.”

This is a guest article from Denise Landers, about some techniques to use to combat absentmindedness. Now, my mind is frequently absent, but I have used these techniques and they work for me when my mind is actually in attendance.

“I can’t remember… where I put that report… the name of their contact person… where my glasses are… where I left my pencil… whether I locked the door… whether I unplugged the iron…”

This is commonly called absentmindedness and often seems to become more prevalent as you get older. However the phrase, “I can’t remember,” may not be accurate. You cannot forget what you did not remember in the first place. Absentmindedness is actually a memory problem.

So much of what we do is performed unconsciously. It is exacerbated by our present work-whirl of multitasking where it can be difficult to stop and be present in the moment. Since you are already mentally onto the next tasks, you do not take the time to imprint on your mind all the pieces of the current situation.

Yet if you want to increase long-term productivity, using memory triggers to improve short-term recall can give you more time every day. Let’s use the missing report as an example. When it first landed on your desk, you might have glanced at it and set it aside to review in detail later. Did you consciously form an image of where you placed it, or were you already moving on to the next item as you added it to one of the other piles surrounding you?

Two major memory tools are links and substitutions. A key in using these for maximum results is to find silly things to connect. Suppose, for instance, that report you cannot find was a draft of the new budget.

Link: You might think about placing it next to your calculator because they both have numbers on them. Just the thought of doing that forces you to be conscious of your actions.

Substitution: Budget: “I bet they will not budge for the IT software request.” Then the silly connectors happen when you envision locking the report in a drawer that won’t budge, and the whole IT department comes in and together they try pulling out the drawer.

Try the same techniques when you meet someone.

Link: Denise. I’m originally from New York where Italians were a big part of the community. I can’t tell you how many times I heard the comment, “Da Niece? How’s da nephew?” Silly, yes, but it was an immediate association.

Substitution: Next focus on a facial feature that stands out. Build a silly picture from that. It will help you remember the face too, and the connection will form. “Da Niece has quite da nose!” Now exaggerate that and see both da niece and da nephew snooping around like bloodhounds.

Simply by the act of searching for a facial feature and a connection, you pay attention. You become a better listener and your memory will improve because you are focusing on the present, not looking past that person to the next one with whom you want to talk.

Are you thinking that there is no way you have time to stop and consciously track everything that you do? Be assured that once the procedure becomes a habit, it will not take long to process each incident. You will not lose time backtracking to verify that you did something or waste precious minutes finding something.

If you want to save time, don’t forget…and you cannot forget something you did not remember in the first place!

Sinking and pulling, almost like falling out of the bluest of skies unto another unknown space in time, dimension, parallel. Or perhaps it would be a similarly familiar territory as in the other renditions of the psuedo-life.

Lightly the entity touches solid essence so knowing by the physical heaviness it has passed yet again unto the lower universal dimensions of space/time. It has passed the veil of remembrance and, yet, the soul mind remembers all. Within this knowing is the truth that the others of this spirit have so come as well or are close at hand. Possibly some remain in the higher dimensions and the remainder on this physical realm, only a dimension away, which ultimately has the appearance of a vast ocean.

AAHHHH! A breathe and the well-spring of physical life emerges engulfing the spirit within. The solitude is almost deafening at times! The spirit cries out and looks through the eyes of the physical searching for likeness in the hordes of other embodiments. At times a glimpse and sometimes a time of companionship. Where are the others? When will my likeness in the mirror be found.

In knowledge of long ago do we remember the crystal agreement and promise. Our purpose for the separation and incarnation upon these foreign realms. Only a moment in the universal continuums which seems like eternities onto infinity.

As we go on within the existence the tides of seeming realities overtake us. The coils of this realm dashing our physical essence upon the rocks and reefs almost shredding the very core of our immortal spirit. Our minds become shrouded and few moments of clarity do we have now. The bringers of knowledge and truth have become the seekers! The love that embraced us as one now almost forgotten.

Our spirits now in a constructed prison of enigma within the realms of physical incarnation. The answers of truth beyond our comprehension. Or are there any answers? Should there be a question? Did we have a purpose yet to unfold or are only a joke and experiment of some other highly evolved beings called “gods”?

As we swim in this lonely sea of unknown, ever searching for our brothers, sisters, soul mates, so our souls long for an end. Yet, do we cling tooth and nail to this physical embodiment in hopes that perhaps this is the time. The time and space in the universal plains that we were meant to be. The Gathering of those souls and awakening into a new beginning of love and truth.

Let us hope—-SOON WILL BE THE AWAKENING!!

One of the issues facing kids, parents, and schools these days is ADHD. It’s becoming a pretty common diagnosis and the easy solution is to diagnose ADHD in an active kid and drug him (and it’s usually a him) up with Ritalin or the equivalent.

Personally, I think that other than excess sugar consumption and a lack of exercise (in some) there isn’t anything different with kids these days. But the schools are different. Teaching methods have changed and teachers have their hands tied when discipline is required. So the kids are drugged.

Here’s a good article on the subject. The author goes into the problem and asks us to determine if there’s really a problem there, and then offers some good solutions.

Step one is to first identify if the child actually has a problem. In my experience, some very normal children with very normal behavior may get labeled as having ADHD, when in fact what they have is a severe case of being a child. Kids who are especially energetic and particularly those who are naturally inquisitive and intelligent can sometimes be behavioral challenges in classrooms and social settings. It is important to distinguish between a child who has an inability to focus and behave “properly” and one who simply assimilates information rapidly, and wants to move on to the next thing and have fun.

Out of Control?
Are you in control of your life?
Life is wonderful, and dangerous and unpredictable.

Sure, you pretend that you have everything under control.
But you know that’s not true.

Pretending to be in control makes you feel safe.
And everyone wants to feel safe.

It’s hard to think about personal growth, enjoying life, or anything else, when you don’t feel safe.

The problem is that most of the world is completely beyond your control.
You’re surrounded by possibility, and asked to make hundreds of choices on what to buy, what to do, and what media to listen to.

And most of these choices don’t matter at all.
