This is a syndicated (and edited) article

Emotional stress is a part of existence whether we like it or not. It doesn’t matter how we each try to stop it, it’s going to keep coming back and possibly haunt you each day of your life. Stress and anxiety might be expected when you go through your typical schedule, or simply appear into the open and stun you.

Difficulties, major or even minuscule, have an affect on all of us emotionally, mentally, and also physically. Regardless of whether we each keep on smiling on the surface there is frequently tension on the inside. The most effective way to cope with tension is to never allow it to get a foothold. You should manage it ahead of when it actually begins to build – so the secret to your success depends on you.

Basic Pointers for a Personal Development Plan

Looking after your body should be the first step toward self-improvement. Everyone should be receptive to precisely what our body demands by just knowing how tension influences our physical being. Below are a few strategies that you can make use of start getting the emotional stress out of your system.

Give yourself a break. It is crucial to know the limits of our body in dealing with stress. Numerous people might think that the more the body is subjected to tension, the more powerful we all end up (if it doesn’t kill you it makes your stroger,) but this is absolutely false. Your body is able to only do so much and may deteriorate once we surpass our own potential (overtraining in athletics is an example.) Any time you feel some aches and discomfort as you are doing work then you take a moment and loosen up before it turns to something more painful.

Unwind and enjoy. Engaging in some physical activity will often help to unwond. A good massage helps in that it relaxes all those tight muscles that result in soreness and restrict your body’s flexibility.

Work it out and sweat it out. Exercise is truly a great way to deal with emotional stress in addition to keeping your body in good shape, but sometimes we’re unable to devote much time to it. Even a light workout a few times per week will do amazing things for your cardiovascular function in addition to lowering your stress levels.

Your mental outlook.(mindset) also has a lot to do with how well you deal with stress. Working on that mendset is as important as working on your physical body. Positive, daily affirmations are a good way to point your mind in the right direction, and goal setting is another.

We all know how to achieve goals, yet there are so many people who get started, only give up halfway, or who don't even get started at all.

We all know how to achieve goals, yet there are so many people who get started, only give up halfway, or who don’t even get started at all.

The problem lies in the most basic part of the process – setting the goal.

When it comes to setting goals the real problem is in how we set them as well as what we do once we set them.

For starters, to look first at the big picture, it is essential to know what your personal lifetime goals are.

Think about that for a few minutes. Sit down with a blank sheet of paper (yes, you can use your computer too!) and avoid all distractions for ten minutes.

Write down anything and everything that comes to your mind in regards to your goals.

What are they?

Where do you picture yourself to be in a year’s time?

Who do you want to have with you?

Where do you see your business in five years? 20?

What is the sales figure in dollars do you expect to make this year that will give you satisfaction?

What do you need to make in profits to reach a new level of satisfaction each year?

And so on.

Think about where your business/life will be within the next few years. Then, follow these tips:

Write down your longest term goal. This is the place that you want to be in a number of years, or the place you need to be to be as successful as you plan to be.

Give yourself a time limit for making that happen. You may want to say that you want to make X number of dollars (Euros, etc.) in two years. Or, it may take many more for that to happen, but it still needs to be defined. Giving your goal a timeframe helps to get your mind set in how to make that happen. If you leave it open ended then there is too much opportunity to let things slide away..

Give yourself smaller goals to reach as steps up to the larger one (aka: Babysteps.) For example, the new entrepreneur may be able to say that he wants to have an office set up and running within a month’s time. In six months, he plans to be running into profit, after expenses have been paid down. Determine what your steps are to reaching your goal. Make sure that you include the timeframe, set the date to accomplish that goal. .

Now, write them by hand on paper in the following manner. “Within six months, I will have paid off all debt that I owe (include the smaller goals that will get you to this bigger one) and be running in the clear. I will do this by … ” In this manner, you have listed not only what the goal is and the time frame to have it done, but also how you will get there.

Take this piece of paper and place it in several places. The idea is to see that goal and think about it several times a day. Seeing it will allow you to think it. Thinking about it makes it happen. Goals lead to success.

Now that you know what your goals are, it is essential for you to make sure that they happen.

You will need to read those goals each day, at least once, but more is better. When you think it, see it, feel it, you make it happen.

When you go through each step, determine your goal for it. How will you implement it into your current work day and how will you insure that it will happen?

Remember, it all boils down to setting it in the first place. Be specific. Have in mind exactly what you want to happen, how long you give yourself to achieve it and the steps you have to take to achieving that goal.

Get that right and you’re off to a great start.

Do you balance work, rest, and play?

This is a guest article:

My home page for the internet is Louise Hay’s Affirmation page, so every time that I go online I have a nice affirmation there waiting for me. Today the affirmation was “I balance my life between work, rest and play. They all get equal time.” Hmmmm. How true is this statement in your life?

Do you balance work, rest, and play? I realised (somewhat to my horror!) that, in my case, playtime really comes in only if I’ve ‘booked’ time to play – like my day at the beach last week, or going to see Hamlet in Stratford tonight – or if I have time ‘left over’ to play after I’ve worked and rested! The end result is that playtime is getting about 20% of my time at most. RUBBISH!

Enough already! It’s time to bump playtime up the priority list! I admin I have gotten into bad habits lately. I’ve been busy and working quite a lot…and because I am good at self care, resting a lot too…but at the expense of playtime! Shocking.

And what’s worse, I know that I am better at this balance than most people I know. Many are very unbalanced (in terms of “work, rest and play” that is – not mentally unbalanced!), and the big missing ingredient is playtime. It’s heart-breaking to see, because playtime makes you come alive, playtime is fun, playtime is vital to you having a happy life – let’s face it, how much better do you feel when you’ve been on holiday? And why?
Because you’ve had uninterrupted playtime!

Holidays are all about recharging your batteries and devoting yourself to having some fun…and then we come home and forget to play for another 11 months and 2 weeks. It’s foolish to neglect your fun muscles – if they get flabby you’ll get miserable. I’m sure I don’t really need to extol the virtues of play – you know yourself that when you take part in activities that you enjoy, you feel better.

So when was the last time you deliberately took part in an activity you enjoy and made a conscious choice to savour that playtime? Why not start tonight? Instead of sitting numbly in front of the idiot box, make an effort to do something playful and fun (if that’s tv for you, ok…but as long as you’re actively enjoying it, not just wobbed out in front of it!). You see people, it’s time to take playtime seriously!

Something to play with

Part 1: What is the balance of work, rest and play in your life? 60/30/10? 40/40/20? Have a guess at the proportions – your best guess will be quite accurate! What can you do TODAY to start restoring the balance (especially the playtime bit!)?

Part 2: What do you do to play? Aim to get a list of 100 things (it might take time, but you can do it!).

Part 3: Do something off that list DAILY.

This is a syndicated guest article:

Setting Goals to Bring Results

There is a big difference between scampering and running. Sure, they’re both actions designed to make person move fast, but the difference lies in goal setting. When a person scampers, that person moves to no purpose. It is an action performed instinctively. However, a person who runs does it to achieve a goal.

No matter how much effort you make, if you do not have direction, you will be wasting your energy. How can one have direction without a goal? Goal setting is important because it is the first step towards a journey. People may think that we started out without having any real goals, but let us examine life for a moment: When a sperm is first released, it has a goal, does it not? It swims towards the egg. This goal gives it direction.

As we mature in life, our goals get bigger and more ambitious. However, we still set goals. Goal setting is an inherent part of life. It answers the question of purpose. It tells us why we have to live, if only until the next day. Goals actually give us direction. For without goals, what would we direct our efforts toward? Goal setting is the key and essentially gives us the first step in our individual journeys.

Think of it: When you set a goal, you try to follow the most direct route towards it. So you take the first few steps towards achieving that goal. In setting a goal, you will always have the first step. However, in life, we encounter little detours. Sometimes, in order to reach our set goal, we must first accomplish another one.

Goal setting is the key to achieving success in life. If you set goals, you will be able to know which steps to take. Setting goals does not mean you make a list on what to do or what not to do. That would merely be the semblance of goal setting. True goal setting involves commitment. From the moment you set a goal, every effort you take should be directed towards the achievement of that goal.

Goal setting is important in life because it allows you to measure yourself. Through proper goal setting, you will be able to see just how far you’ve come and how far you will still be able to go.
