A long hard day in the office (or whereever) sometimes leaves us with those aches and pains that just annoying. A knot on your back, tightening muscles on the legs and arms, everybody has experienced these at least one time or twice in our lives.

Some people opt to ignore these knots and pains, calling them just their daily due, Others opt to fight back, perhaps with an Excedrin.

You don’t have to suffer this discomfort anymore. By spending a few minutes a day, or even at the end of the week, you can recharge yourself and be prepared for the new week ahead. No need to go thru the new week with no energy. Massage is the answer, of course. You can either work your muscles yourself or hire a professional. There are even some services which will come to the office and work ouit the kinks right there.

One of the biggest time constraints that people have is the time it requires to go from one place to another with all of the traffic and other things that demand more of our time. One way is to get a massage where you usually are and that place is work. There is a reason employees are called working stiffs, but with some straightforward massage techniques, you can get some relaxation while you crunch up those numbers and push those papers.

Self massage is a good way to work out many of the aches and pains, but a masseaur can reach places you’ll never touch. That trick is to let the pros and their fingertips do the work.

For a 14 day e-course in self-massage go here.

Massage therapy is a broad term that encompasses a wide variety of healing procedures and methods and is generally composed of pressing, rubbing and manipulating muscles...

Massage therapy is a broad term that encompasses a wide variety of healing procedures and methods and is generally composed of pressing, rubbing and manipulating muscles and soft body tissues such as tendons, ligaments, skin and connective tissues.

The main objective of massage therapy is to relax the soft tissues while promoting an increased delivery of blood and oxygen to the areas being massages and, therefore, to decrease tightness and pain and stress. Massage therapy is most often accomplished by utilizing the massage therapist’s own fingers, hands, arms, elbows and/or feet. Occasionally, however, mechanical and electronic devices may be also used.

Massage Therapy is an umbrella term for a whole series of more specific body manipulation therapies. As a matter of fact, there are more than eighty official types of massage therapy treatments, as well as many unofficial types, but a few of the most widely known therapies are the following:

* The Deep Tissue Massage. This technique uses a combination of strokes and deep finger pressure applied way down under the skin and into the muscles at the painful sites in order to breakup knots and loosen tightness.

* The Trigger Point Massage. This procedure is also known as the Pressure Point Massage and it is more focused on specific myofascial trigger points with a stronger force than the Deep Tissue Massage. The goal here is to dissolve the painful knots that were formed in the muscles as well as to relieve additional symptoms in more remote areas of the body.

* The Swedish Massage. This system utilizes oblong smooth strokes, kneading and friction of the muscles as well as movement of the joints to increase their range of motion and flexibility.

* The Shiatsu Massage. Using altering rhythmic pressure, tapping, squeezing, and rubbing along the meridian lines and on various other parts of the body, the main objective of this Eastern massage therapy is to enhance the flow of the gi (also, Ki or Chi.) This energy, in the lore of ancient Chinese medicine, is believed to be the life force that regulates a person’s spiritual, emotional, mental and physical wellness. it is easily affected when subjected to the rival forces of yin and yang.

The massage therapies mentioned above, as well as all the others, are also referred to as complimentary alternative medicine (also known as CAM.) Regardless of the specific therapy used, there are important points to be considered:

No massage therapy should ever be used in place of regular or ongoing medical care. It’s a complement, not a replacement.

Massage therapy should not be the cause or the excuse to postpone visiting a medical professional for existing medical issues.

Make sure you are comfortable with your massage therapist’s schooling, credentials, and technique as well as his or her experience with specific health and medical conditions.

Any additional complimentary alternative medicine (CAM) such as herbs, supplements, special diets or other treatments which are suggested by the massage therapist must first be reviewed with a medical professional.

If and when massage therapy is performed, preferably by a well trained and experienced professional, few risks are involved and the worst of them may simply be temporary pain or discomfort, bruising, swelling or an allergic reaction to the massage oils.

The small number of serious injuries which have been reported were triggered by untrained hands that were not aware that certain medical conditions should not be massaged. It is, therefore, essential to consult a qualified professional before undergoing massage therapy as a primary treatment for whatever condition you may have. Here are several conditions where any form of massage therapy should be done under qualified supervision:

Deep vein thrombosis

A bleeding disorder or when taking blood thinners

Damaged blood vessels

Weakened bones from osteoporosis, a recent fracture or cancer

The presence of high body temperature

Open or healing wounds, tumors, damaged nerves, an infection, a severe inflammation or fragile skin

Pregnancy

Heart problems

Dermatomyositis or any other skin disease

History of physical abuse

Certainly the various massage therapies are great for loosening tight muscles, relieving stress, increasing blood flow to an area, and so on. The effect this this has on the various hormones of the body, as well as on the positive mental outlook are certainly beneficial. Just make sure that if you have a serious condition that you’re working with a professional, as well.

There are other approaches that you may be unaware of, and they are referred to as complimentary and Alternative Medicine.

This is a syndicated article, courtesy of Syndicate Kahuna, and is not intended to offer any specific medial advice. Always talk to a qualified medical practitioner before embarking on any course of treatment.

Conventional medicine has a certain predictability to it, in that you pretty much know what your Doctor will say. Not that conventional medicine isn’t effective, it is, but sometimes it’s not quite the cure for what ails us. There are other approaches that you may be unaware of, and they are referred to as complimentary and Alternative Medicine.

Complementary and Alternative medicine (also known by the abbreviation CAM) have been around for a long time. Many of their practices come from various parts of the world and may date back thousands of years, such as herbalism and massage. Complimentary and Alternative medicines each use the same basic types of treatments to bring you back to robust good health, but there are differences in how they are used.

Generally, alternative medicine has been practiced in lieu of conventional medicine, herbalism being a good example. Complementary medicine uses the many types of alternative medicine along with conventional medicine. Massage therapy is an example of this. You can be in charge of your own health decisions, yet still listen to the advice of your doctor (which is always a good idea) when you decide to go the complementary and alternative medicine route.

Health centers and traditional hospitals are now incorporating various alternative medicine therapies into their available services. it is not uncommon for a doctors visit to include some type of recommendation for alternative therapies, such as chiropractic treatments for back pain.

Meditation is another technique that is increasingly recommended, and may people find it to be a very useful technique in dealing with the stresses of modern life (not that earlier times were any less stressful.)

A recent survey by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has found an increase in the use of holistic practices with complementary and alternative medicine being used by adults and the children who live in their households. What we are seeing is a trend towards alternative medicine even with adults that have medical insurance coverage.

Here is an example of complementary medicine that probably everyone has tried at least once. Taking a daily multi vitamin can be considered a form of complementary medicine, as you use it along with whatever regular treatments you receive from your doctor. This is a mild form of complementary medicine that would almost always meet with your doctor’s approval. Massage is another form of CAM, as is Aromatherapy.

It is a comforting thought to know that by using complementary and conventional medicine, you have chosen to do something to safeguard your health, all on your own.

Natural Supplements and Eating Well

Exercising and eating healthy foods are just some of the things a person can do to live a life that is healthy and free from disease. You may have herd the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Avoiding nasty habits like drinking alcohol and smoking is another way to prolong life as well as to improve overall health.

Other than these, taking natural healing supplements can also make a person healthier because these supplements will clear away the many built up toxins that are present in your body.

There are holistic medicines that help promote the removal of toxins in the body, the renewal of skin cells and the flushing out of harmful substances like cholesterol and fat.

There are also supplements that improve your mental and emotional well-being through the relaxing properties that are used in the supplements.

Since stress is known to be one of the major factors that can cause a person to become sick, the use of stress relieving supplements is a important part of a natural health regimen that can keep a person healthy and fit.

End of syndicated article

A very modern treatment, which we have found to be very effective at reducing stress and increasing focus, is Brain Entrainment. This is a process that effectively trains our brains to reach a meditative state far more rapidly than traditional methods, which retaining all of the traditional benefits. You can learn more about entrainment here.

Of the many benefits that come from Yoga and Madiation, one of the greatest is the improvement in Cardio health...

This is a syndicated article, courtesy of Syndicate Kahuna

Reducing Stress Through Meditation and natural healing

Meditation is the practice of concentrating one’s thoughts and awareness on one specific thought. This concentration may not seem like something that could in any way have a beneficial affect on a person’s health, but research has shown that practicing meditation can, in fact, help improve a person’s overall health.

Cardio Health

The most interesting physical benefit of meditation is in improved cardiovascular health. There are many theories about why meditation helps the cardiovascular system, but one dominant theory is that the calming effect of meditation not only relaxes the mind, but it also relaxes the entire body.

Meditation has been shown to be an effective in reducing stress and stress is a well-known player in cardiovascular issues. Over time, regular meditation and yoga can help a person’s heart to be healthier. Heart disease is common in both men and women, so meditation and yoga are helpful for everyone. Of course, meditation yoga also helps a myriad of other ailments like anxiety, stress, and depression by the same relaxation method. Some people who practice meditation feel that it’s a type of alternative medicine.

Yoga Is More Than An Exercise Regime.

Yoga is one of the oldest systems of self-improvement, exercise, and meditation and its gentle approach can help even the most inflexible of muscles to gently yield and limber up. The key to yoga is that you begin slowly in a non-competitive environment and your progress will come through steady practice rather than forcing the body into extreme positions when it’s not ready.

Yoga is more than an exercise regime; those who study this discipline say that it simply becomes a healther way of life.

The effects of yoga are noticeable too. Stronger muscles, greater flexibility and an inner calm that cannot help but be projected outwards. Family and friends may not be able to pinpoint the difference but they will gradually notice that there is something different about you.

As the daily benefits of meditation and yoga begin to take effect you may want to turn your attention to some of the other holistic practices that are available such as Rolfing and Aromatherapy.

Homeopathy and Herbal Medicine, Your Natural Healing Remedies.

There are so many natural healing remedies, such as homeopathy, that are made to heal not just the body , but the mind as well. These are usually referred to as stress busters and the calming effect that a lot of herbal remedies have on a person usually leads to a better life. The connection between illness and stress has been cited a lot of times, and it has been proven that a person who is under stress will suffer from illnesses that he normally wouldn’t have.

Meditation and Releasing Stress

Some of the benefits of meditation and Yoga include increasing your ability to learn, releasing stress, unlocking hidden talents, and a greater ability to solve problems quickly. This can also be done through Brain Entrainment and the Brain Evolution System.

With all of the food additives, air pollution, and the stress of daily living, using the practice of aromatherapy can help you reclaim peace and to regain your balance.

This is a syndicated guest article:

Go natural! With all of the food additives, air pollution, and the stress of daily living, using the practice of aromatherapy can help you reclaim peace and to regain your balance.

You can enhance your practice of skin aromatherapy by using pure essential oils, sometimes called aromatherapy blends of essential oils. Whether you apply them directly to your skin, use a lotion, add to bath water or apply body wash, there are many available that are useful.

The practice of aromatherapy goes back to ancient times when it was considered a therapeutic natural practice. The advantage of living today is that a number of high therapeutic grade blends have formulated, produced and tested, so that consumers can buy aromatherapy products confidently.

The Practice Of Aromatherapy is used in perfumes, bath scents, massage oils, and even ointments for healing wounds. Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile essential oils derived from holistic plants. For many thousands of years, this process of natural health has been used for a variety of purposes, including improving general well-being.

Aromatherapy blends are now widely available through the Internet by companies specializing in aromatherapy products. Each company is somewhat different and has specific offerings to promote well-being, as well as aromatherapy carrier oils.

Here are just a few of the Aroma Therapy products that are available:

Aromatherapy candles
Light a candle and let the fragrance penetrate your room. Depending on the essential oil, your experience will vary. Make sure to research the individual oil and its properties.

Pure Essential Oils
Sniffing an oil, diffusing it into a mist or putting drops on your skin or in your bath water can bring about peace of mind and tranquility. Some practitioners of Aromatherapy strongly caution against using essential oils directly on the skin. See this article on essential aromatherapy oils for more.

Aromatherapy Lotions
Just rub a lotion on your arms, legs and other areas of your body can help soothe your skin and your psyche.

Aromatherapy Bodywash
Don’t like using harsh soaps? Use a bodywash as part of your daily bathing experience and you will notice a difference. Of course, when you buy products made with an organic aromatherapy oil online, you need to make sure it is grown organically. A site like Pure Essential Oils.com provides a lot of information and organic products.

Use an aromatherapy relaxation treatment to pamper yourself and let your body achieve a deeper level of peace and well being. Aromatherapy energizes and relaxes your body.

Remember, authentic essential oils are not artificial substances that are synthesized in a laboratory and deprived of all its components. Natural substances make them powerful and the effect is to soothe a person’s emotional state.

Relaxing is a very important to staying healthy. Essential oils are natural rejuvenating agents which help your body eliminate waste matter, including dead cells as well as promote the regeneration of new and healthy cells. So relax today!

Laughter and jokes and play are undervalued in our serious adult world.

We think of all of these as entertainment, just a way to escape the stress and burdens of a threatening world which weighs us down.

Do you ever feel like you’re carrying more than you can bear?
Laughter picks up those burdens, and takes them away from us, if only for a moment.

But laughter is much more than an escape.

Laughter can heal.

Quartz crystals have been used by healers, spiritual teachers, and scientists of the sacred throughout history to receive, transmit, store, transform, and balance the various forms of energy found in our Universe.

This is a guest article from Angela and is a great intro to Quart Crystal Points. She also has her own site at Quartz Creek.

Quartz crystals have been used by healers, spiritual teachers, and scientists of the sacred throughout history to receive, transmit, store, transform, and balance the various forms of energy found in our Universe. Many may wonder why crystals were chosen as the medium to tap into these sources.

Essentially, it is because every quartz crystal point contains the attributes of the five elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Ether or Spirit. How are crystals similar to the five elements?

Element Air: Crystals grow deep in the earth and form much of the earth’s crust, yet like the element air, crystals allow light to pass through them and split light into spectrums.

Element Fire: Quartz is a good conductor of heat. Ancient civilizations were well aware of this property. Objects and spheres carved from quartz always feel cool when touched or held, even in the heat of the day, because the crystal conducts the heat.

Crystals are also fiery in that they have piezoelectric properties. Piezoelectricity is the ability of crystals to generate an electric potential. One of the most common piezoelectric uses of quartz today is a crystal oscillator. The quartz clock is also a familiar device using quartz crystal.

Element Water: Crystals are watery in their hexagonal molecular structure which resembles snowflakes, and in their ice-like appearance. Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder believed quartz to be water ice, permanently frozen after great lengths of time. (The word “crystal” comes from the Greek word for ice.) He supported this idea by saying that quartz is found near glaciers in the Alps, but not on volcanic mountains.

Element Spirit: Crystals are expressions of the element of Ether or Spirit, the fundamental energy that sustains all forms of energy in the known universe.

When looking at the healing attributes of crystal, think of the human body as a series of energy systems. Crystals are devices for adjusting and balancing these systems. When one uses natural quartz crystals to heal the body, energy transference occurs between the crystal point and the body. Thus, crystals function as transformers of energy to help rebalance bodies on a cellular level, as well as on emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.

When you think about it, your brain is the center of all of your bodily functions. Any ailments you experience usually start within your brain, and how your brain perceives the trauma. Therefore, if your brain experiences stress, imagine how uncoordinated your body will perform. If your heart beats at an abnormal speed, your blood will flow at an unhealthy rate. It then becomes a domino effect with your other organs as well. In Chinese medicine, the over activation of one organ in the body meant that another organ had to weaken.

Whenever the body becomes out of balance, in any aspect, quartz crystal points can place balance back into the body. With the aid of crystals, thoughts are focused on a particular area of the body that needs either activated or slowed down. “The crystal is a neutral object whose inner structure exhibits a state of perfection and balance,” according to crystal researcher Marcel Vogel, a senior scientist with IBM for 27 years. “When its cut to the proper form and when the human mind enters into relationship with its structural perfection, the crystal emits a vibration which extends and amplifies the powers of the human mind. Like a laser, it radiates energy in a coherent, highly concentrated form, and this energy may be transmitted into objects or people at will.”

Why is it better to use crystal points rather than your hands for healing? Dr. Marcel Vogel explained that “The psychic healer has to deal with the emanations of his hand or his bioenergy field, which do not have the same levels of coherence one can obtain by using a crystal. The crystal works much the same way that a laser does: it takes scattered rays of energy and makes the energy field so coherent and unidirectional that a tremendous force is generated — one that is much stronger than if the energies were allowed to be emitted without having come into coherence.”

Where is the best place to purchase healing crystal points? Quartz crystals absorb energy from the sun, moon, and lightning discharges, so in reality, crystals found in uncultivated environments are fully charged from natural sources of energy and ready to be utilized. Thus, crystal points, when purchased from sellers that mine their own crystals, have tremendous healing powers already invoked within them that can immediately be used to aid in healing endeavors. Crystal points processed in large scale quartz mines lose all of the natural charged energy, so if you decide to purchase from such companies, you will need to cleanse the point very well before using it.

Are you in need of some positive energy? Do the stresses of everyday life seem to be getting you down? If so, then Check out Crystal Creek’s large selection of naturally charged Arkansas Crystal Points and bring positive vibes to your soul.

This is a guest article from lailah. Enjoy.

Living blissfully means to live happily and blissfully. Many masters and gurus learned to revert to their original state of bliss. It’s natural for humans to be happy and stress free, but unfortunately many of us have become prisoner of the mind and of our thoughts. The key to blissfulness is to release the chains attached to the mind and to stop connecting thoughts.

The natural state of the mind is to think. It forms unrelated and independent thoughts. As soon as one thought enters, it leaves and is quickly replaced by another. To prove this, sit for ten minutes and observe your thoughts. Quickly write down each thought as it enters. When you’re done, look over the list. You’ll discover you’ve written down unrelated and independent thoughts. One second you’re thinking about dinner, the next you’re remembering what your friend said, and the next you’re worrying about work. One thought has nothing to do with the other.

Our problems begin when we connect these unrelated thoughts into what we believe to be a truth. Thoughts are not concrete. When you realize this, your emotions will no longer be at the mercy of your thoughts. When you connect many happy thoughts, you’re in a good mood until you begin connecting upsetting thoughts. Your mood then becomes sour and filled with worry.

Incidents in our lives are as unrelated as thoughts. If during different moments in your life different people complimented you on your drawing ability, you’ll believe that you are a talented artist! Once somebody else insults your work, your ego will become bruised and you’ll doubt your skill. We’re constantly connecting independent incidents and thoughts which create a roller coaster of emotion.

To live blissfully, live presently and stop connecting thoughts. It may take some practice since you’ve become in the habit of connecting thoughts. Now you must train yourself to break that habit and live in the moment. Allow your thoughts to enter your mind and leave freely and naturally. When you realize you’re connecting two thoughts, stop yourself. It’s well worth the practice and patience it takes to master this skill.

Find the guidance you need as you travel along your spiritual journey and create a more loving and healthy life.
